Hollywood Studio's

Hollywood Studios, here is a park that started off being devoted to the productions of Hollywood, this park was originally named MGM Studios back when it opened. There was the Back Lot Tour, A stunt show, a New York Street backdrop. It has now evolved into a more focused version of what it once was, this is due in great to how far Disney has actually expanded in the past years, with the addition of Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars they now have changed the park to be more focused on 2 of the more popular brands. We have seen the opening of Toy Story Land, which is located behind Pixar place, they even moved the entrance for Toy Story Mania. When you enter Toy Story Land, you are shrunk down to the size of a toy. You will notice the theme is incredibly detailed, all the way down to a footprint that would be the size of Andy’s sneaker. With this new land came the Slinky Dog Roller coaster, and the Alien Swirling Saucers along with the always popular Toy Story Mania ride, where you play against your car mate in a digital shoot out game. For a snack, you are going to want to hit Woody’s Lunch Box and try the Totchos, potato tots covered in chili and cheese.

If you want some thrill rides, then head down Sunset Boulevard for Rock ‘N’ roller Coaster and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.

For the Star Wars fans there is Star Tours the Adventure continues, Jedi Training Academy and of course opening up in August 2019 is the first section of Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge, once fully open this will give us Rise of the Resistance ride and Smugglers Run where you get to pilot the Falcon. There is also going to be a lot of new shops and eateries that will be opening up as well. There is also a Star Wars themed hotel in the works, this will be completely immersive and bring you into the storyline of Galaxy’s Edge. It is going to be a real exciting time at Hollywood Studios for the next year or two.

There are plenty of places to sit and relax as well in the park, you can either check out one of the stage shows they have going on, or maybe one of their 10 minute movies. They have March Of the First Order, they come marching right down Hollywood Boulevard and go straight to the Center Stage and put on a little show, then march right back down where they came from. Down on Sunset Boulevard, you’ll get random shows reminiscent of the comedy shows from the ’40s. If you’re looking for somewhere to sit down and grab a bite to eat, then you have a few different styles to choose from. If you want a more upscale style restaurant, then you have The Hollywood Brown Derby, if you want somewhere that has a buffet, and also gives you Disney Jr character meet up then you have Hollywood & Vine. If you want to go old school and be reminded of either your parents or grandparents then try the 50’s Prime Time Cafe where you’ll be reminded to finish your vegetables and keep your elbows off the table. Want to watch some old Sci-Fi TV while you eat, then head to the Sci-Fi Dine-In and enjoy your meal in the car and watch the TV. Now if you’re feeling like some good Italian, then hit up Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano, some really good food.

If you feel like something a little quicker, then there are plenty of quick services places to try as well, one, in particular, that has a decent choice selection is the ABC Commissary, then there is Backlot express, and PizzeRizzo. Not to mention all the other good and tasty snacks you find all around the park.

Hollywood Studios offers two nighttime shows, now if you think you will be able to make both cause of the way they time them, you won’t. The two shows are Fantasmic down off Sunset Boulevard or Star Wars Galactic Spectacular a Firework and digital overlay on the Chinese theater. These are both great shows, and I highly recommend you catch them both, this usually means you need to come back to Hollywood Studios on another day of the trip, if you have a park hopper this is possible to do. But it is recommended to see both shows if you can arrange it.
